Meet the Author
Joy Pitcairn writes stories for children and adults.
Born and raised in South Florida, Joy possesses an unnatural admiration of alligators and a strong affection for flip-flops, Key Lime Pie, and the ocean. She loves learning languages, hearing people’s stories, and reading punny picture books and twisty mysteries.
A long time ago, Joy graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Elementary Education. After a roundabout journey through Bolivia and South Korea, she is currently based in Chicago, Illinois. Joy is a member of the SCBWI and Sisters in Crime.
When she’s not writing or drawing, you might catch Joy researching her latest curiosity (e.g., What makes a city walkable? Does sloth fur hold the cure for cancer?), trying/failing to keep her plants alive, or playing board games with her family.

Dogs! I’m allergic to cats, but I admire their sass from a distance.
-
Fall. I’ll always go out of my way to step on a crunchy leaf!

Both! Some of my favorite books are all heart, but I’m a sucker for laugh-out-loud stories, dark humor, and good puns.
